As you ride into the dense cloud, the details of the island become clearer. Its upper levels are home to a misty forest, along with the ruins of some ancient facility. Spires and antennas rise out of the structure. With a constant hiss, vents along the side of the rocky island belch out a steady stream of thick clouds—the very same clouds that masked the structure's presence. Below, the floating rock is riddled with cave entrances and metal walkways that weave throughout the caves, connecting smaller chunks of floating rock.
Your spiderline is latched to one of these precarious walkways along the underside of the island. The smell of ozone fills your nostrils as you ride further into the stormcloud. Approaching rapidly, the winds grow fiercer, but mercifully, your mag-grappler keeps its grip. If ever there was a time to be scared of heights, it would be now.
As soon as you reach a spot where you can dismount safely, you let go, landing on a circular metal deck with a resounding clank. All around you, the droning of machinery fills the air. Whatever this strange facility is, it appears to still be functional…but the storm around it threatens to throw the entire Valley out of balance. You rise to your feet and set forth, hoping that by exploring the island, you can figure out how to shut it down.

With your preparations made, you aim the line launcher and fire. With a loud ka-chunk, the carbon nanotube rockets high into the sky. The recoil nearly sends you to the ground. Above, the wire springs forward like a striking snake, eventually disappearing into the clouds.
After a moment, the wire straightens, and a series of clicks emit from the launcher, indicating the line has taken hold of something solid on the other side.
At first, you worry about how steep the angle is, but to your surprise, the island appears to be bobbing up and down in a steady rhythm every few minutes. If you time it right, you should be able to attach yourself to this new line with a mag-grappler and ride it to the island. A shudder courses up your spine as you think about the consequences should you misjudge your timing. The last thing you want is to be stranded out on the line, thousands of feet above the ground.
