Having collected several samples from various areas within the terravore, you hand the devices back over to Tiella, who places them into a second apparatus. With a series of whirs and clicks, the spheres roll into position and are meticulously rotated by some unseen mechanism. There is the sound of air escaping from the device, at which point several counters along its side begin to spin, revealing iconography Tiella seems to understand.

"No way," Tiella mutters. "It looks like you were right after all—there's particulate here that is identical to a compound we use in one of our lures at the outpost. That must be what it's smelling. But…that doesn't make sense. That lure is designed to attract plant-like biomelds, like puffercrawlers. Not terravores!"

The symbiotic vine wrapped around your wrist writhes, coiling itself a little tighter. You recall Tiella saying that Sirisana discovered these vines inside the terravore, and you saw several of the creepers yourself when you were placing those air samplers. You wonder aloud if that's what the lure is attracting—not the terravore itself, but the vines.

Tiella's eyes widen with realization. "Of course! If they've formed some kind of symbiotic relationship with the terravore, it might be compelled to go where the vines want to go!" She hurls everything back into her backpack and practically flings it over her shoulder. "Come on, we have to get back to the outpost and deactivate that lure. Maybe we can set it up somewhere else, somewhere safe." You nod in agreement and get ready to trek back to the outpost.
