"Training is…well…it's been difficult," she says. "I've learned about as much as I can about being a Ranger. I've spent a lot of time in the library reading books and studying maps, but I haven't had the courage to go back out into the field since the accident." She lets out a long sigh. "Maybe Bo was right after all. I'm just not cut out to be a Ranger."

You tell Olyv that you're sorry to hear that she's having trouble, but that she shouldn't give up. It's surely only a matter of time before she's ready to get back out there.

"Maybe," she says thoughtfully, and at this a light seems to kindle behind her eyes. "Say, would you be willing to help me? You're right. I can't just sit around at Lone Tree Station for the rest of my life, but I'd feel a lot more confident if a full-fledged Ranger was by my side. What do you say?"
